Overview
Retail business is one of the largest employers in Manhattan. Although much of Manhattan's workforce is employed in this sector, retail businesses are not included in the Major Employer listing.
Manhattan has quickly become recognized as a regional retail center, containing over a dozen shopping / retail districts all within a three-mile radius.

Manhattan Town Center, a major shopping hub boasts three major department stores, and a variety of local and national shops. Other retail anchors for the city include:
- Super Wal-Mart
- K-Mart
- Home Depot
- Target
Unique and vibrant business districts like Seth Child Common’s, Aggieville, and Manhattan’s own Downtown makes it easy for Manhattan’s retail businesses to really make their mark. Recent approval of Manhattan’s Downtown Redevelopment Project promises to be a big retail win for both long-time merchants to new business alike.
